DAY OUT TO HEVER CASTLE AND CASTLE GARDENS, MARCH 26th

UPDATE- ALL THE INFORMATION YOU WANT

Remember we let you know about this brand new event in our last message ?

A wonderful chance to visit a picturesque double-moated 13th century castle which was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry the Eighth. Plus a look round the beautiful and extensive gardens within the castle grounds.

We've already had a number of responses. Thank you very much.

We have all the important bits coming in this message. Read on:

When: saturday 26th March

Where: Hever Castle and Castle Gardens, 30 miles south-south-east of central London, located in the Kent countryside

Travel arrangements: We will take a train from London Victoria Station. It leaves at 09.23 a.m. from platform 18. It will be highlighted as a train leaving for UCKFIELD or WOLDINGHAM.

Please aim to be at the station 15-20 minutes earlier in order to buy your ticket. Or consider buying your ticket before saturday from any mainline London station.

Because they are pulling up the railway lines on saturday 26th March, we will be switching to a bus waiting at Woldingham station.

So here is our timetable      09.23: leave London Victoria
                                        09.55: arrive Woldingham
                                        10.01: leave Woldingham (by bus- guaranteed connection)
                                          10.49: arrive Hever (rail replacement bus stop)
                                          11.00: arrive Hever Castle

Train ticket prices: the cost of the ticket, called an off-peak day return, a ticket from London Victoria to Hever, is £ 10.10. You can reduce this if you have any sort of travelcard.

Finding John, the organiser: He will be sitting in the first (front) carriage of the train in the travelling direction. THIS WLL BE THE CSYPN RENDEZVOUS CARRIAGE. He will be watching all those waiting to buy tickets and waving at you from 09.05 to 09.18, when he will want to jump on board the train himself !

Castle entrance ticket price: £ 11.50 per person. Please pay John Pindar this money, cash or cheque (''M.J. Pindar'') on train. John must pay in one lump sum at the Castle ticket office.

Other costs: the pub ! Coffee at Victoria Station, if you want to buy some ?

Footwear considerations: mainly paved surfaces, except for a path around a lake
