Turner Prize

In the cold nights of November, what can bring more cheer than art and a pint?

We are going to see the Turner Prize exhibition at the Tate Britain on 21 November. We will meet at 6.30 and then inspect the exhibits competing for the Turner prize. Afterwards we shall head over to the pub for alcoholic refreshment – we may need it – and discussion, artistic and otherwise. The Morpeth Arms is the nearest pub, and we shall try that.

The cost of the exhibition will be £2 for members and £7 for non-members.

If you wish to come, email us, along with the name of any guests at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it by Thursday 20 November.

In the event of the exhibition being sold out that night, we will simply explore the Tate Britain.

From the Tate Britain website:

“The Turner Prize is a contemporary art award that was set up in 1984 to celebrate new developments in contemporary art.

Over the last two decades the Turner Prize has played a significant role in provoking debate about visual art and the growing public interest in contemporary British art in particular, and has become widely recognised as one of the most important and prestigious awards for the visual arts in Europe."
