Great River Race
Great River Race
Now, something special - the Great River Race!

Guys, sponsor us and help the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC)! It's a great cause and 10 of us will be sweating for 4-5 hours. That must be worth something!

To donate, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/csypn.

Time Out gives quite a bit of importance to this event and puts it at No. 18 in their "101 Things To Do Before You Leave London" feature. It takes place on 13 September.

It's a rowing equivalent to the London's marathon with a minority running a competitive race, and the rest having fun and raising money for a charity.

CSYPN has managed to secure a boat (very difficult) and, if you would like to join the Croatian ambassador, sing Croatian songs and get a place on the boat, do let us know asap. Boys and girls can both be on the team.

We'd like to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and with your application please let us know how much money you would expect to raise from your friends/colleagues. This is a truly wonderful event. Make sure you don't miss it!

In addition to the race itself there will be a Great River Race party and BBQ the night before (at £10 per person), to which all are invited.

If you wish to monitor your favourite team, us, you can do so. Every entry will be equipped with a GPS tracker enabling the Race to be followed live on the internet. This, of course, spoils our intentions to sit for 4 hours in a local pub :-(

Talking to many of you about it, we got a great response and we expect quite a lot of interest from you. Don't worry about your fitness too much - the race is downstream and we have 8 rowers in a boat with 2 taking a break in turns. And a Croatian TV will be along too - if you fancy getting on TV.

The Great River Race is an annual event started in 1988 and since then it has firmly established itself as a summer highlight of the London's sporting calendar. Now, with more than 300 boats and 2000 participants, The Great River Race has become the biggest and most prestigious event of its kind in Europe.

The Race is regarded as the rowing equivalent of the London marathon and this event is bursting with colour, spectacle, intense competition and casual fun. The extensive course takes crews from the idyllic semi-rural Richmond shores, past many historic landmarks, all the way to the strikingly industrial cityscape of Docklands.
