Croatia has such a fine sporting pedigree that we at CSYPN felt the need to emulate that for our members. So if you like tennis, football and basketball, or if you prefer something more relaxing like ice skating or bowling, keep an eye out here for our sporting events.
We also endeavour to organise events around big sporting occasions, so if it's the World Cup or Wimbledon, look here and find out what we're doing.
Our annual summer
BBQ and tennis tournament will be on Saturday 19th of June. We will have food,
drink and music - all in an venue perfect for families, with plenty of room for
kids to run around safely. There is a big field for games like rounders and
football, and we will have sports alongside the tennis tournament. So whatever
your interest, come along!
What: Barbeque, tennis tournament and sports day
When: 3pm, Saturday 19th June. Please arrive early or on time.
Where: King Alfred School, Golders Green, North End Road, London NW11
7HY
Cost: £5 deposit (£3 is refunded on the day)
We hope to once again put a 10-person crew in this year's Great River Race (www.greatriverrace.co.uk). CSYPN has had crews the last two years and have raised a lot of money for charity, rowing a boat in what is like the London marathon on water and one of London's most colourful and exciting events.
The sailing weekend has been postponed from the May bank holiday weekend. It will now be taking place in July, with a provisional date of the weekend of the 16th/17th of July. This is yet to be confirmed, but if you are interested please e-mail Edo on the committee (

A big congratulations to our crew who completed the Great River Race at the start of the month! There was lots of singing and sweating as the CSYPN boat raced in lovely sunshine along 21 miles of the Thames. The boat did it in 4 hours 7 minutes.
The next football match with Croatia is on Wednesday October 14th. We play Kazakhstan away. The Famous Three Kings, West Kensington will be showing the game as usual. Kick off is 9.30pm.
What: Croatia vs Kazakhstan World Cup Qualifier When: Wednesday 14th October 9.30pm Where: Famous Three Kings West Kensington (http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/95/956/Famous_3_Kings/West_Kensington) Cost: The pub charges a £3 entry on big match days - and with this you get a bottle of beer. This is something the pub does - we do not have anything to do with that.
Please remember that England play the same day, so the pub can get crowded - it is best to arrive a little early to make sure you get in (England's match is at 8pm on the 14th) Also, some people last time had difficulty finding other CSYPN members: this time, we will have a CSYPN sign so everyone can find each other!
You know how important these games will be. As usual, we will be watching them in the Famous Three Kings right next to West Kensington tube station. We have also organised a meeting venue for Croatia fans for the England match.
Please click 'read more' for some important information.
CSYPN is organising a tennis
tournament (for those of you whose athletic days are gone, there is
also a barbeque). We held a very successful one last year, and this
event is family and kids friendly. Don't miss it!
Furthermore, if the weather turns bad (which as
we all know never happens here), we have an alternative set of
activities ready.
The Famous Three Kings will be showing this Saturday's 2010 World Cup qualifier between Croatia and Ukraine. I do not need to say how important this match is for us!
As England are playing at the same time the pub may get quite busy. To avoid queuing outside the get in, try to arrive a little earlier. Kick off is at 7:15pm.

Continuing from last year's successful participation in the Great River Race (London's river marathon - http://www.greatriverrace.co.uk/) we have secured a boat for this year's event and once again will be raising money for charity.
Next Thursday, 6 November 2008, Dinamo will come to London to play Tottenham in the second game of Group D of the UEFA Cup.
Tottenham players Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka will be up against their old side just months after leaving Dinamo as Hotspurs face their first UEFA Cup game under new manager Harry Redknapp.
Guys, sponsor us and help the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC)! It's a great cause and 10 of us will be sweating for 4-5 hours. That must be worth something!
Time Out gives quite a bit of importance to this event and puts it at No. 18 in their "101 Things To Do Before You Leave London" feature. It takes place on 13 September.
It's a rowing equivalent to the London's marathon with a minority running a competitive race, and the rest having fun and raising money for a charity.
CSYPN has managed to secure a boat (very difficult) and, if you would like to join the Croatian ambassador, sing Croatian songs and get a place on the boat, do let us know asap. Boys and girls can both be on the team.
We are organising The CSYPN Tennis Tournament on Saturday 26th July 2008 from 10.30am until 3pm.
We will accommodate any level, gender, or style as long as you indicate how good your tennis is. Please use a scale from 1-5 (1 being a top player, 5 a beginner).
Matches will be played on good astro-turf courts at King Alfred School (beautiful grounds close to Hampstead) and during the tournament there will be an opportunity for your friends/family/children to engage in other sports activities such as unihoc, badminton, basketball.
Despite of the fact that we were beaten by Britain in the Davis Cup
this weekend, we had a wonderful time in Wimbledon and Cadogan Arms.
All the Croatian players (Ljubicic, Ancic, Cilic, Karanusic, Zovko)
joined us and enjoyed an excellent tamburitza band from Vinkovci -
these guys know how to entertain. When you add kulen and rakija - the
enjoinment is guaranteed.
Now, after tennis - it's another
basketball session. On Friday evening (7-8pm) we'll put our kit on and
have fun on the court. If you wish to join, please email us as soon as
possible, but not later than Thursday 27th September. Price is £5 for
non-members and free for members.
Petar is organising another basketball session. Always lots of fun and nice exercise. It's free for CSYPN members (only £5 for others), so don't hesitate to join us.
Summer is upon us, so it is time to get out your tennis rackets again.
David, CSYPN's sports impresario, has booked two courts for 2 hours at
the Westway Sports centre. In case you were wondering, this should be a day off at Wimbledon (rain
permitting) and there will be no World Cup matches either.

We had an ice-skating event last year and it was very successful. We have no doubt that this too will be an entertaining event. Afterwards we can go to one of the many excellent pubs the area offers. Beginners are most welcome - don't worry, you won't be the only ones falling down - we'll be there as well.
Our Petar is organising a basketball session on Sunday. This looks like lots of fun and nice exercise. So, if you wish to join us email Petar directly.

As many of you will know, Mario Ancic recently won
the tennis SuperSets competition at Wembley Arena,
triumphing over British No 2 Greg Rusedski 11-9 to
claim the £250,000 prize. In honour of Mario's
momentous achievement and his idol, the great Goran Ivanisevic, we have decided to organise
our own SuperSets tournament.
